This comes from sarahgracemeck on Threads. I honestly don’t know who she is, but she’s pointing out the importance of context. We should all know better than to take anything at face value anymore.

People even quote the Bible out of context for their own gains. You need to get the full picture. I’m not saying Charlie Kirk has never done or said anything wrong, or even what side I’m on for this topic. I’m just pointing out that the one-liners I’m hearing often don’t mean what many think they mean, and that’s frustrating.

If I’m making you mad and you’re not open to a conversation - feel free to just scroll on by, unfollow, unfriend, or even block if you feel the need. I’m sharing my own personal thoughts on my own personal page. It’s not an invitation to spar with me. Charlie Kirk let countless people yell at him and spit on him and even threaten him, and didn’t budge. I’m just personally not in the mood.

Wrecked by Communion & a Blue Van...

 I was taking communion this evening, and as I considered some of the things Jesus went through on His way toward the cross (let alone His literal sacrifice), I was just struck with this feeling... How can anyone accept this outrageously undeserved gift?? Like, I understand that's the entire point of grace. It's undeserved merit or favor, and yes, it is absolutely undeserved... but I can't help but think of how I struggle to feel worthy of basic things in life... So how do we truly wrap our heads around God's value system?? Last week, our family got a new (to us) vehicle. We've had it for a little over a week now, and every time I look at it, I just can't help but feel like I don't deserve it. 😢 Like, it's absolutely beautiful. It's a deep blue Honda Odyssey van. Toxic People

I think Christians in particular have a very hard time knowing how to deal with toxic people (especially if it's family). I know for myself, I often think of that verse that says to "turn the other cheek" and assume that means I just need to grin and bear it.  Something I've noticed, though, while reading the gospels recently, is that Jesus didn't just let people run their mouths at Him. If someone was trying to manipulate him, He'd answer their question with a question of His own. He'd walk away or even simply stay silent. He kinda let the air out of their tanks (thanks, Lego Movie) and stopped them in their tracks by making them think.  It's worth noting that He wouldn't get into long, drawn-out, heated debates with people, but He wasn't afraid to speak the truth in love either.
