Charlie Kirk & Empathy

Next on the docket for my open, curious-minded friends:

The issue of Charlie Kirk rejecting “empathy.”

I don’t even have to hear the entire explanation to discern exactly what he’s talking about here. He’s not saying the act of empathy (putting yourself in someone else’s shoes) is wrong/bad.
He’s saying that today that word has actually been weaponized in order to entrap Christians by saying, unless you accept whatever we do is fine, AND support us in those decisions (“empathy”), you’re not actually a Christian. Many are also saying that if you DON’T agree with our choices and support us, and we kill ourselves based on that, it’s your fault. 🤨
Example: Abortion. No, I'm not going to debate you on this topic because you don’t care what anyone else thinks about it, but with this issue, there are many that would say Christians aren’t expressing “empathy” to those who would choose to have an abortion (not in reference to medical emergencies - don’t cherry-pick).

I think we could agree that most abortions happen because a baby was unplanned or, in general, would be seen as inconvenient. Trying to weaponize the word empathy against someone who values all life from conception is simply moral coercion or emotional blackmail. It’s a way to manipulate someone onto your side. Not interested.
