Little House on the Prairie

Saw this magazine and had to pick it up today. I’m a major lhotp nut.

❤️ Steve and I have watched every episode, and tonight we finished the last movie that was made after the series ended. šŸ  So we have officially watched it all!!

I grew up watching the original pilot episode at my grandma's with my sisters and cousins, and it just stuck with me. It inspires me to enjoy the simple things in life, I guess…

What must it have been like back then? I'm sure there were opportunities to be distracted from your relationship with the Lord in those days, but not like today. You could lose 8-10 hours of your day just scrolling on your phone. It's absolutely criminal what a thief screens have become.

Lord help us straighten out our priorities and become aware of any addictions or idols we may have.

New hair, who dis? I can’t tell you when the desire first hit me, but I’ve wanted locs for well over 20-25 years. Wrecked by Communion & a Blue Van...

 I was taking communion this evening, and as I considered some of the things Jesus went through on His way toward the cross (let alone His literal sacrifice), I was just struck with this feeling... How can anyone accept this outrageously undeserved gift?? Like, I understand that's the entire point of grace. It's undeserved merit or favor, and yes, it is absolutely undeserved... but I can't help but think of how I struggle to feel worthy of basic things in life... So how do we truly wrap our heads around God's value system?? Last week, our family got a new (to us) vehicle. We've had it for a little over a week now, and every time I look at it, I just can't help but feel like I don't deserve it. šŸ˜¢ Like, it's absolutely beautiful. It's a deep blue Honda Odyssey van. Toxic People

I think Christians in particular have a very hard time knowing how to deal with toxic people (especially if it's family). I know for myself, I often think of that verse that says to "turn the other cheek" and assume that means I just need to grin and bear it.  Something I've noticed, though, while reading the gospels recently, is that Jesus didn't just let people run their mouths at Him. If someone was trying to manipulate him, He'd answer their question with a question of His own. He'd walk away or even simply stay silent. He kinda let the air out of their tanks (thanks, Lego Movie) and stopped them in their tracks by making them think.  It's worth noting that He wouldn't get into long, drawn-out, heated debates with people, but He wasn't afraid to speak the truth in love either.
